  Where the Devil Roams (2023) is a supernatural horror movie set in Depression-era America. Although it is beautifully made for its budget and the creative team continues to show their artistic chops, the story meanders quite a bit and I struggled to make much thematic sense of its bits and pieces.

  They Live (1988) is a scifi action horror movie that’s all cheese and schlock, laid over a surprisingly still-relevant story about class, oppression, and violence. It’s much more interested in being a cool-guy action movie than exploring those ideas and the corny 80s movie tropes is where they lose me.
