    For me, this film looked somewhat cheap and was a little predictable. That said, it was earnest. Maybe because the cast was so unfamiliar to me, they looked like they were trying to be of service to the story, and subsequently its audience. What this film really is though is Hollywood producers looking at the star power of Zendaya and whether she’s done enough here as merit to lead future projects.

    I’m always content with a Hathaway performance. She has enough gravitas she can carry a generic film out of oblivion. This is a Notting Hill x Pretty Woman remake which just substituted Julia for Anne. And so while I’m remembering Julia, I recall Gandolfini in the Mexican really bringing the charm to their screen dynamic. That’s what happened here - it was Nicholas who really carried this film for me. For a young actor, he held his own with the veteran Hathaway and they elevated this otherwise generic film into the realm of passable pleasure.
