Mickey 17 2025
The lighthearted dystopian starship troopersesque romcom i didn't know i'd been waiting for. A complete delight all around. I'm glad this isn't making money so far so the warner bros people don't try to make a Max original tv show out of it. I love that rob pattinson brings wacky character actor energy to all of his lead roles, it's really something we need more of in movies. Give that man at least two oscars (or don't, that'd probably be more appropriate).

Good Bye, Lenin! 2003
A sweet movie about lying to old people and the end of the GDR. My main complaint is I wish we'd spent more time with the old people. Much as I may like Daniel Brühl, the old people really should have been the heart and soul of this movie. The ones who really bought into the GDR, who were model citizens only to be unceremoniously thrown to the capitalist winds. Man, I'd watch a movie just about them.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist 2008
This is not a movie. It's an 8th grader's fantasy of what high school will toooootally be like. It's exactly as profound as that sounds.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) 2014

But for whatever reason, I coughed up another $12 ($12!!!!!) to see Birdman again, and, well, I'm sad to report back that it's still just as braindead, just as pedantic, just as unfunny, just as self-congratulatory, and just as condescending as I remember.
Watching it a second time, I think I figured out my problem with…
