  The Blade 1995

  This film is crazy. Gritty action galore and some pretty impressive camera work stood out for sure.

  Plot was hard to follow at times though. This was mostly due to abrupt cuts between some scenes combined with the nonsensical ramblings and actions of certain side characters (Ling especially).

  Glad I sticked with it for the final act to see the comeback arc and one of the most insane final fights I’ve seen in a martial arts film. Good watch

  The Boy and the Heron 2023

  Plot was addictively confusing. It does ask a bit of you and jumps around without explanation, which did make the experience feel dream like at points.

  However, if you allow yourself to be immersed in the film (and don’t ask too many questions) you will be seriously rewarded as it begins to (mostly) fall into place. Plus the Ghibli visuals are on point as always.

  I’d say worth the trip to the cinema, not just to enjoy a good film but also to experience the last Miyazaki on the big screen as it deserves.
