Grounded, dark and smaller in scale but stooped in history, evil and the occult. A worthy adaptation of one of the most popular novels ever written, but it will be hard to ever topple FFC’s version, no matter what shadowy trickery, elusive (and stunning) photography and voice manipulation one can manifest.

I am a little late to this one and as a fan of Woody Allen’s (strictly his cinematic creativity), I feel stupid for not getting to it sooner. He has a great skill for navigating the romance genre, intricately weaving two characters together in such a loving, compassionate and enjoyable way that I assume lots of viewers wish they could “step inside” the screen to exist in his worlds.
