haven’t walked out of the cinema feeling this way in ages — villains that are easy, satisfying to loathe, protagonists that are so frustrating and sympathetic. Linda’s desire to be seen as good (an angel) was v compelling... she’s literally haloed by the sun and then by candles. maybe it’s tropey but it’s well done. the sense of euphoria, liberation promised by the wide shots and music; the cabaret interludes that structure the story; A said the whole thing felt really camp and you know what! more cinema needs to be like that!
