  better than the greatest showman even if it is a product of its time (all the jokes about "the wife" got old quickly) but michael crawford is so lovely with his childlike wonder and unstoppable enthusiasm that he makes it more than bearable. he makes it fun !!!

  Barnum is a dick but you can't not like Michael Crawford. I was surprised at how many of these songs I remembered, and how many of them are good, but Out There and Come Follow the Band in particular are my jamz. And the stunts had me like 😰

  Not sure why this is listed with the 113 minute runtime, the version I watched was only 95. I'm not complaining though, because I'm pretty sure it would've dragged otherwise. But yeah, I did like some of the songs and the cast it solid enough to make this an entertaining morning viewing. Nothing too special though.

  Eh. I put this on because I wanted something entertaining and not too plot heavy, and I certainly got what I was looking for. This is pretty goofy, and there are some decent gags, although there are also plenty of "wife bad" jokes. Overall, it's decently funny and the music is alright.

  That being said, none of the songs are particularly memorable, and it's not historically accurate, to say the least. While "inaccuracy" is not an inherent flaw, sideshows and circuses of this era were extremely exploitative, and it'd be nice for period pieces like this to quit sugarcoating it.

  anyway yeah it's got michael crawford singing and dancing for 2 hours so 10/10 i guess

  A cartoonish retelling of PT Barnum’s life. The peppy cast belts peppy songs while performing circus acrobatics. The characters are cardboard and the second act drags. But I had a great time.

  For a circus musical with pathos try Stop the World. I Want to Get Off!

  I have heard the soundtrack (with Jim Dale) many times but never seen the actual staged performance. The circus stunts add so much to the show. Michael Crawford is amazing. And can you sing while walking on a tightrope?

  Michael Crawford the professional as always and a great performance from all the cast.
  It had some memorable and some not so memorable songs and on the whole felt like something was missing, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would rather watch Barnum! than The Greatest Showman any day.
