This actually has a pretty creepy vibe, and they do a decent job at playing out the fantasy. We had family that lived in Peninsula, Ohio, just south of Boston, and my mom, my grandparents and I used to go up to visit them almost every weekend. I remember being told some crazy stories about Helltown, and a bunch of us kids took a dream drive up there one Halloween night in the late 80s with beer and flashlights, but we creeped ourselves out so much that we never tried to actually do the things people warned you not to do out in those woods.

The highlight of that article has to be: "We reached out to Cuyahoga Community College and we were told that there was no “Paul Wyndham” on staff. Furthermore, according to a spokesperson for the college, Wyndham doesn’t even pronounce “Cuyahoga” correctly in the film."

Honestly a really good mockumentary. In the beginning it felt like a real documentary, which was really cool. I also didn’t know it wasn’t real when I started watching as I just stumbled upon a showing of it on the Travel Channel and it had me fooled in the beginning being that the Evacuation actually happened. However, as expected, it became quite cheesy at points and lost its grounding in reality— which is why I have it such a low rating. On its own, this mockumentary is interesting but nothing special, mainly due to studio interference. Watched with Film Junk’s video commentary, it’s elevated to a whole new level of entertainment value. What a hoot!

American Horror Story: Roanoke did it better.
A pretty fun mockumentary involving the wendigo. It had me going for a few minutes, but they blew their wendigo load too early. You never go full wendigo. At least not for the first half.

Fun little mockumentary. The real story is creepy enough and this suffers from some patently ridiculous acting and reenactments. Good for a lark, but research the real story... bizarre.
