Manages to find the right balance between classic creepiness and innovative shock moments.

From a technical standpoint, it delivers outstanding creature design, an unsettling and uncomfortable soundscape, and tension-building camerawork.

Unfortunately, it’s missing "that one scene" or at least a gripping finale to make it truly stick with me. I have a feeling that, much like Demián Rugna’s latest film When Evil Lurks, it will be forgotten rather quickly - which is a shame for a film like this.

I keep trying to convince myself that “yeah, the practical effects were great, and those last 30 minutes had such an intense atmosphere.” But the more I think about it, the less I actually believe it. Not much about this one is really gonna stick with me.

I’m glad I gave this a shot despite the wave of negative comments circling around it during Oscar season.

    ★★★★

Dead Snow 2 takes everything the first film did and cranks it up to eleven. While the original took its time to get going, this one kicks off with pure chaos and never lets up. Funnier, bloodier, and packed with some of the finest slapstick carnage I’ve seen in a horror comedy.

It honestly surprises me that these films aren’t more widely recognized in the horror community - especially the sequel. More people need to see this.
