  Here's a doozy. Mermaid Legend has a perfect balance of stuff I love and stuff I hate. On one hand there's the stunning visuals, a soudtrack that I wish could get as an LP, and a story focused on a decently acted female character. On the other, we have undercooked characters whose behaviors often don't make much sense, a long gratitious rape scene, and a sequence where the protagonist defeats her enemies with a very anticlimactic ending. A lot of people seem to like the exploitation and pinku bits in this, but I'd probably like the film more if not for those jarring elements.
