It’s just very much a part of the thing it’s criticising. Its whole set-up is already compromised. It’s aimed at exploiting parents’ Sun driven social panic. It’s super interesting but also in a sense very boring. It gives the people (in this case middle class parents in rich western countries) what they want to hear. It feeds back to them the fears they already have. Of course it’s “hard to watch” but and this is important - not THAT hard…

Nosferatu 2024
What stands out is the super simple colour - scheme - almost no colour, blacks, whites, greys blue greys. Chiaroscuro, the striated image. The palette is simple and all about shadow and light. This is the star of the film. A tribute to German expressionism. And Nosferatu as a non-individual as a dark force everywhere and nowhere at once. A force emerging, the non-organic sexuality of things, shadows, the dark. This was new and this was a very good vampire. The seduction scene at the end. A film ultimately transsexual in so many ways… it’s good you should go see it.
