This movie remains a treasure. Every note a jewel. Well, almost every note. There's always that 🥴 point at which Don Alejandro says: “Hold your tongue. Go to your women. Leave my son to me.” And that 🤦♀️ moment when Senora Isabella says “Arms, muscle. You men!” Do they make up for it with the later conversation about bustles? Maybe.

This movie had many internal inconsistencies. I hardly know what to make of it.
- Point: a lot is made of the importance of the symbiotic bond. The sentient symbiote chose Jaime, presumably because it saw something special in him. Counterpoint: the symbiote acts like an amoral computer and never articulates why it chose Jaime. So I don't understand the bond or even why the symbiote benefits.
