  Starting to think on what might be my 6th rewatch that this is Scorsese’s best film. It implores all the trademarks that made his work with the American Gangster so enjoyable and iconic, seamlessly slotting it into the frame of American Financial Capitalism. It draws you into a world of debauchery and excess over the first two hours only to show how hollow this life makes a person by the final act. Yet what I think makes this film stand…

  Masterpiece. Definitely need to watch this again but it's both technically and emotionally outstanding, the way the camera moves around the environments is so we'll directed and choreographed it must of taken so many attempts to get perfect but the end result is worth it. This was clearly a passion project for Cuarón and it deserves all the praise it's getting.
