The French Connection 1971
felt basically the same way about this as i feel about dirty harry, although gene hackman pulls off the messy, insane cop thing better than clint eastwood. entertaining enough, i guess, but the grit gets stuck in my teeth. something very cruel about this genre of cop-in-a-cool-outfit-commits-police-brutality movie, even when trying to explore the greyer side of the law.
