The Good: Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke are great actors as always. Their talent is undeniable.

The time Riz spends in the deaf school is good and can be quite touching.

The Bad: The whole movie feels like a lot of potential that never really delivers. I wanted to see more of the band before he lost his hearing. I also thought they kind of forgot about the love interest plot for too long.

The Bottom Line: It's not trying to copy "Whiplash", but you should nevertheless just watch Whiplash instead.

Wind River portrays a Cold World~

The Good: Everything about this film works to tell a dreary, weathered story of tragedy and justice. While Olson holds her own, it's Renner who stuns with a stoic and largely silent performance.

    ~Bird is the Word~

The Good: This is a brilliantly crafted story of one mans' personal and professional redemption. Keaton is wonderful as usual, but Norton truly steals the show. Stone is also as impressive as I've seen her.

Loved the usage of the "ever moving camera" technique. You truly feel as if you're behind the scenes on Broadway!

It's goofy, unbalanced and downright strange sometimes, but it pulls it off anyway.

The Bad: Wasn't a huge fan of all the drumming, but I understand they did it to create pace.

The Bottom Line: Deserving of Best Picture (when many winners these days are not)

~I get now why he doesn't like the water...~

The Good: This is an incredible noir-esque thriller without even one dull moment. The acting and stunning island visuals are candy for the eyes and ears. You may guess the ending in advance, but it does not keep you from enjoying the yarn one bit.

The Bad: It doesn't really FEEL like a Scorsese movie. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with it.

The Bottom Line: It's a heartbreakingly epic mystery that will continue to reward viewers even on repeat viewings.
