Surprised by Oxford 2022
a decent attempt.
i haven't read the novel so i can't speak on its adaption powers, but i do think this adaptation downplayed the spiritual transformation present in the novel in order to elevate the shoddy romantic plot. at oxford, did caro discover god or kent webber?the shots of oxford and discussions of lewis, tolkien, milton, donne, etc. made me nostalgic.
the editing and acting frustrated me.
caro is insufferable but i would also be if i didn't know joy and was getting a doctorate degree at oxford.not a great film but also not unenjoyable.
