    The Running Man

Rewatched in preparation for a 2025 Edgar Wright remake and now I’m so hyped. There’s some truly hilarious comic potential in here, I’ll be gutted if they cut the camp. Some truly iconic Arnie lines, and even meta references. Dude’s a unit.

    It’s actually kinda brilliant.
    I mean… obviously it’s nonsense.
    But it’s brilliant nonsense.

    8.7/10 Running Men

What the fuck is going on with Dynamo guys? A trouserless opera singer wearing a Perspex Spartan helmet? Am I missing something?? Is there a through-line here I’m not seeing?? I don’t understand how any of this links together!!

    Mickey 17

I really don’t get this film.

There’s so many elements and moving parts, I totally lost track of why anyone was doing anything in Act 3. Some metaphors felt so heavy handed that they don’t even count as metaphors, and others I’m still trying to figure out if it even was a metaphor??

The more I think about it the more confused I’m getting. So not what I was expecting, but I think… in a bad way.

Really wish they’d sunk their teeth into this “What makes us human?” thing. Truly criminal that no one mentioned the ship of Theseus in this whole thing.

This film is great. I hope it becomes a sort of classic and the next generation gets to enjoy it aswell.
Towards the end I was trying to figure out if Ken is the villain, but I think like… The System is the villain?
The Billie Eilish song passed me by the first time cos I was too busy already having an existential gender crisis, but it got me like a…

    Spirited Away

It’s a slow start, and the parents are… irresponsible… but oh when it gets going.

One of the most enjoyable movie experiences of my life. I thought Spirited Away was one of those ones I didn’t actually need to watch cos I basically knew it all already, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Miyazaki keeps you guessing at every opportunity, and even when there’s no opportunity to be found! Way scarier than I thought, but every character mentioned I was…
