  It never really occurred to me prior to this viewing how primed the country may have been for a Superman movie by 1978. I’ve watched several late 70’s films over the last few years that, in my current age, I can now appreciate their role as a response to what the country was going through post-Watergate. Much of them were from an understandably cynical viewpoint, how corruption is enmeshed throughout all power structures, and that we’re all just an afterthought.…
