While the script gets away from it and its ultimately pretty derivative, I’m not too mad in part because sci-fi horror is very slim pickings but mainly because it’s such a visual treat. Fantastic color palette, psychedelic trips, some brutal body horror later on, and a killer John Carpenter esque score slathered over every minute.

Despite my general dislike for horror comedy I thought this was mostly a blast. Was very surprised by how absurd it consistently was, purposefully having its world make very little sense in an amusing way with huge laughs and huger kills. Just plain old bloody fun in a way horror doesn’t get to be too often.

Atlas Shrugged for ancient liberals. Often devastatingly boring, often hysterically funny, all the time insane. Hard to parse what seems like winking melodrama, the tagline of “A Fable”, with how deathly serious it also is. One of those must-be-watched terrible movies.
