  Absolutely amazing animation of nearly every imaginable style. Banging soundtrack which truly benefits from the cinema turning it up to 11. Characters that you like, empathise with, and care about what fate holds for them. Supremely engaging story. Unexpected, excellent cameos. Snappy dialogue. Emotional. Funny.

  Also at least half an hour too long. My son was very annoyed at me for saying so.

  It's really very satisfying just how many surprises were saved by the marketing team and reviewers. Very assured direction and committed performances help sell the film and its grim underground, world. It's a good high concept pitch that expands and takes plenty of left turns, but I do wonder whether the surprise is the thing here and if it would stand up on a rewatch.
