This might be one of the most mind bending films I’ve ever seen.
The beauty is that neither of these men are stereotypically good guys or bad guys. They both are extremely flawed and are driven by their desire to one up the other magician in order to obtain more success.
The last 5 minutes of this movie is gold and makes the journey so worthwhile.
One of my buddies at work said this was in his top 10 so you know I had to watch it.
Can I tell you something? I’ve never seen an Al Pacino movie before.

Not much gets me fired up like people misusing power. This documentary does a great job at telling a story. Mike Dowd did some absolutely terrible things and it’s hard to watch him be so nonchalant about it.
I think they tried to show his side of the story, but cmon man, I’m never gonna get behind what you’re saying.
Worth a watch, good storytelling.
Hilarious part in the beginning where he said “I coulda been a fireman I just took the police test first.”

In some ways this movie is scarier and more haunting than a horror film.
I don’t remember the last time I gasped this many times watching a movie either.
Act I had a great setup. I wasn’t prepared for Act II (although I do wish it was a little bit longer). The amber/sepia toned colored throughout help keep a shrouded and dark veil over the story. Lots of play with power dynamics. Didn’t know where the story was going the entire time.
Do yourself a favor and add this to your watchlist.
