Such a dull and mediocre film. I shouldn't have trusted the temporary Claire Denis high I had after seeing High Life (2018) last night. It seems nearly miraculous for a film with this premise and so much sexual angst/activity to be so boring, artless, and meaningless. But this film "achieves" it. The cinematography is often grating with excessive close-ups. Character development doesn't exist. An actual plot is... very thin. There's really nothing to grasp here. What a waste of time.

The 10th Annual Letterboxd Season Challenge (2024-2025) - Week 3 (Sep. 16th-22nd): Nicecore (radical kindness) (Film #2)

Unfortunately my feelings for this srquel are about the same as the original. They're both cute, simple, nice, childish, wholesome films. And with both, I'm quite put off by how far-fetched and convoluted the story elements are (not the talking bear part, but the random small things and in this one, the basis of the big conflict). I still didn't really feel anything for this film either. As with the first film, I probably wouldn't watch this film again, but I might recommend it in certain circumstances.

Not much for actual narrative, but an interesting and raw slice-of-life of the gay/queer party scene in Berlin. I think it being light on story works fine, but understand that wouldn't appeal to many people. The allure is certainly aided by the various attractive guys and sexual situations. I also really appreciate bleak gay films like this one which do NOT feature homophobic violence, as that is so overdone and annoying. I would watch this film again and recommend it.

I kinda liked this film. It got a ton of hate, but I don't think it's too bad (nor is it great). Feels like an average queer horror flick to me. I thought it was fairly interesting and enjoyable, though of course uncomfortable at times. I didn't find it to be particularly bigoted or discriminatory or offensive (there is some as part of the story, but that behavior is portrayed as being wrong). It did fall into some silly clichΓ©s,…
