Anything remotely sci-fi will have me watching it…yet this was just a bad rip off of District 9, it was easily predictable, badly paced, cringey dialogue and a soulless-ness to the film I couldn’t put my finger on.
The film had potential for sure (credit to the graphic novel it is adapted from)
Also did anyone else find Stanley Tuccis line ‘I just really don’t care’ feel really lazy? (No hate to Stanley Tucci btw, man’s a goat)

Robert Eggers is one of the few directors which I’ll watch horror from as it’s not a genre I normally watch. But the dark atmosphere, cinematography and SOUND DESIGN WOW.
I don’t really have any complaints, lily rose depp holds her own in this, even if in more of the quiet moments she struggles.

Weird movie. The start was interesting and had me intrigued , thought it was going somewhere. Nope. Almost an hour in and I swear we were still on Act 1. Not to mention, the absolute weirdest , most bizarre wannabe Professor X ending in the whole of cinema history.
