  “guys, it’s been a slice”
  this movie rips. super fun casting, wild aesthetics, so many explosions (did they all buy their bikes from acme?), a “rock fable” story/soundtrack.

  willam de foe looks straight up like kuwabara from yu yu hakusho, supposedly because this movie popularized the yankii look in japan. 

  this also came out a year before back to the future but it is kinda wild how much this is doing the same pulls for 1950s nostalgia. they had a fight in a diner and then played johnny b goode.

  I hated every character in this movie. 
  the whole film is deeply unsexy. there was something genuinely compelling about the weird divorced psychosexual energy between jo and bill in the original.
  this is just mr beast in a cowboy hat playing bro country and being annoying. 
  I think the high resolution really kills the gritty vibe of the original. 
  this story is extremely dull. and I know no one is doing it like michael crichton nowadays. but come on. ugh.
