Pieczka is the MVP as always but heavens is this film pedestrian. Between the samey shots of Łukaszewicz limping/moaning in pain and substantial swaths of unsubtitled Russian dialogue I found it really hard to care about the (incredibly simple) story and the runtime doesn't do it any favors either. It's also a very bizzarre subject for X Film Unit to make, considering its history with more... ambitious fare. My guess is that around 82'/83' Wajda would explode if his company…
