Don’t know if I can rate this, but it was a really interesting watch. Need to sit down and reflect on this one.

1 star for Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo dancing, and half a star for the rest.
This movie explores so many interesting themes, that unfortunately falls completely flat with its execution. If one has to place a film on a scale between showing and telling, this film relies almost entirely on telling, removing any space for subtext and subtlety.

This silent film blew my breath away. It had me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Definitely the most engaging silent film I’ve watched to date.
A lot of the shadows or impression of shadows on set and on the faces of the actors were created by actually putting those shadows on the actors with make up or making it part of the set design, instead of just relying on light, which is really freakin cool.…
