A brilliant and beautiful love letter to the original. Brilliantly brings back Godzilla as a feared and unstoppable nightmare with a desire for destruction, rather than a commercialized Kaiju hero figure (though I enjoy that version too). The seriousness of the movie was actually somewhat refreshing, and it respectfully addressed heavy topics such as PTSD, notions of honor, and family ties.

The gore in this movie makes Deadpool feel like Winnie the Pooh. So much fun, filled with laughs and blood explosions. Ben Schwartz AND Nic Cage? What else could I ask for?
I will say, though, the welcome mat joke was my favorite part of the entire movie.
