  It’s without a doubt the weakest of the trilogy, and at times a weird messy film, but there also so much greatness in it. 

  Michael Caine’s performance in this is top tier though, his best of the three. Also is perhaps the closest Batman film we’ve got to the Adam West ones, in a strange, wonderful kind of way. So yeah, weird film.

  Gets 5 stars for Heath. 

  Genuinely one of the all time great performance, with this and Brokeback he has two of the top 10 for me. I’ve seen Nicholson play The Joker and I can see Nicholson in The Joker, I’ve seen Joaquin play The Joker and can see Joaquin, I can’t even see a glimpse of Heath in this. He’s totally transformed and leaves no traces of himself.

  This is truly something astonishing, and as a debut feature.

  I was an absolute mess at the end, just letting the credits roll over me while I tried to find the right way to continue my life now I’ve seen this.

Following
