Come for the drop kicks, stay for the emotionally resonant portrayal of South Korea’s recent history and a masterful exercise in the grammar of cinema. Once the incredible foot pursuit chase scene concludes, the last act is spell-binding, where the previous levity of Kang-ho Song and Kim Roi-ha‘s parochial cops is overtaken by moodier, metropolitan cynicism.
Those two wrote this? And then Robin Williams shows up in one of his quieter, least showy roles and absolutely levitates everything. And they get Elliott Smith to write the songs. I love those Boston accents so much that I want to rewatch The Town.
Awesome Robocop-inspired, low budget sci-fi with bonus body horror, which pays off in every one of its 100 minutes. Obviously, Logan Marshall-Green is a total star and pulls off the remote control of STEM with aplomb. Fantastic production design throughout. Bad-ass ending.

Kind of forgot how little Ian Malcolm does after the T-Rex scene, aside from laying down with this shirt unbuttoned. Bob Peck’s shorts are ace.
