This film follows Aubrey Gordon over a long period of time, starting when she was an anonymous blogger through to the launch of her book, but quite sparsely, often self shot on her phone. I liked it fine but also felt that it didn't need to exist/isnt the most interesting story. If you are already familiar with the politics of fat liberation and also Aubrey Gordon's work, it doesn't have a lot that's new to offer.
I was moved by the narrative about her mum realising that she shouldn't have made her go to weight watchers as a teenager.
A film about two cousins, one has adhd and the other is autistic. Script quite bad?
I saw this at Cultplex, manchester's premier adorable independent repertory cinema, which was a lovely experience. And multiple men at Cultplex told me what a treat I was in for. But I couldn't get into it. Art-coded but not actually interesting. I was told that the photography and sound were amazing but I wasn't that bothered!
A friend told me afterwards that the driver is a "neurodivergent king", and that's a lens that might have been fun to have while watching.
A very emotional film about how no one should have to die at war, with very stylish and entertaining monster stuff too. I cried three times!
