Spider-Man 2002
The second movie in my birthday celebration is Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. The acting is goofy as hell, the filmmaking is over-the-top, and the dialogue is pure schmaltz, but I still love it all. Those who know me will be aware of how much of a Spidey fanatic I am, so it'll be no surprise as to why Raimi's iteration remains my most rewatched of them all. This 2000s blockbuster exists in a league of its own, combining an individualistic style of performance with a classic tale of good versus evil to create something truly special that only gets better with age.

Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981
Seeing as it's my birthday, I've decided to have a night-in watching some old favourites, starting with the movie that kickstarted my obsession with cinema. Raiders is just sheer perfection from start to finish, featuring an all-timer score from John Williams which makes me feel like a kid all over again, taking me back to when my dad first showed me this legendary trilogy. You really cannot go wrong here!

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
An odyssey of revenge and a symphony of violence, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga proves that you don't need Max in order to tell a captivating story within this franchise. It's fast-paced, presented in gorgeous technicolour detail, and might just be my film of…

Last Night 1998
I don’t know why, but this film really hit me in a weird way. All the way through, I was thinking about what I’d do on the last day of Earth, and I honestly don’t know whether I’d be with my family, my friends, living out personal fantasies or just waiting for it all to end. Probably the most realistic and poignant depictions of what people would do if the world was ending at midnight, without the cliches of showing the planet exploding around the characters or people trying to stop it. A lot of dark humour, which really helps to make this film.
4 stars.
