I loved where it was headed, hated where it ended. The homages, humor, and laced-in references were refreshing. A complex script that didn't fall in on itself. Brilliantly. Made. Movie.
But just out of my own distaste and disagreement of nihilism…the whole argument that either “nothing matters” :) or “nothing matters” :( …. kinda lost me in the last 20 minutes.
Knowing the twist of this movie, I had intentionally avoided watching it.
Hubby wanted an action movie though so I sat by reluctantly as he picked this on Netflix. Little did I know that this was going to be one of the best-shot films I’ve ever seen????
It has no right to look like this from 2004.. There is so much energy and irony in this thriller that it feels like something from this decade. The camera itself feels likes it own character. In lack of a better word - it feels alive. The ends feels disgusting but you cannot deny this is a GOOD movie.
This movie (and the people who praise it) remind me as to why I left film school.
I'm exhausted. I'm bored. My hopes for the MCU have plummeted over the last couple of films (excluding Ragnarok).
But I am sure Marvel felt the same way. They took a step back from the drawing board and surveyed every cliche they had created for themselves. Infinity War was the product of their rethinking.
