Assassination Nation 2018
Although initially promising, this film seemed to have been compressed into 75 disconcerting minutes where you almost felt as though chunks of the film had been cut out, and in an attempt to convey its alternative teen aesthetic and force across a strong political statement, the quality of the plot and structure of this film was lost, leaving you dissatisfied by the end along with a sense that you’d had to work hard mentally in order to keep up with the film’s rushed, disorganised pace.

I found this film to be perfectly paced and aesthetically pleasing to watch, with subtle uses of symbolism throughout making it a film that pays close attention to detail, while being simple enough to follow and extract an opinion on. The film’s use of music and time to both unnerve and disorientate the audience to reflect how the protagonist feels throughout is done extremely well, which made it overall a nice surprise after the film itself got pretty average reviews upon release.
