Just a notch below my expectations. A slew of competent but forgettable gags showing leisurely obliviousness in the face of a not so distant backdrop of political unrest and societal change, all set to the same short recurring loop of elevator music. Progress stops at the beach. Spring Break forever.
Bill Murray has never been happier to have been waitlisted til Season 2.
I hate everything about this as a premise, but if you really want to squeeze this into a functional feature film it actually would’ve been more concise AND breathable if the story started at Lorne moving into the Chateau Marmont in the months leading up.
I do think Rachel Sennott and dual role Nicholas Braun are fun to watch, and Paul Rust as Paul Shaffer is comedy nerd candy. I went in ready to push it away and I left neutral, so that’s a feat. I think the misguided intentions were mostly good.
