watched this mostly out of curiosity about what studying for the master sommelier exam would look like and ended up resonating with it a lot more than i expected. Although the specifics were unique and the four subjects of the documentary were putting in levels of work i never could, as someone who's been involved in competitive sports/games for meaningful portions of my life i really connected to the way they talked about preparing and their feelings about the exam.

overall, I really enjoyed this; i found myself getting very invested in the storylines and i felt like i learned a lot watching it.

i really enjoyed this! a lot of the shots with just one person were sooo gorgeous, and unlike a lot of movies with dimly lit scenes, the use of darkness in shots always felt intentional and like it was adding to the film artistically rather than being distracting. the story was enjoyable, and i really enjoyed dafoe's performance in particular.

very fun and very gay movie. the shots used did a lot to create the tension the story needed. loved the two main characters, as well as Caesar (who did a great job of being appropriately horrifying at all points of the film).

incidentally, the only mob film i've seen is The Godfather so i noticed every time the word "mafia" was used in this, since the script of The Godfather intentionally did not use that term.

one of my mother's favorite films, so i watched it with her. i really enjoyed it! i especially liked the casting and characterization; i felt like i knew so much about the characters within the relatively short runtime of the film.
