All the Bright Places 2020
I can't believe I keep having to say this, but:
Mental illnesses aren't quirky.
Suicide isn't beautiful.
Expecting someone to "save you" isn't romantic.
I will give the film credit though for at least *attempting* to portray these issues in a meaningful and authentic way. I am honestly happy for anyone who has found some sort of comfort in this film, so don't let yourself be desuaded if this or the book means the world for you. It just didn't do it for me.
Really nice score and okay performances.

More than ten years later, after having the DVD sitting on my shelf for two years, I decided I was ready to give it another go. It was one of these films I thought I would always look to in awe, but never be able to watch again. And now I’m realising that it…
