  its a crime that we dont have a million action movies directed like this omg. only real problem here is that tony leung plays ip man waaaaay too straight, so much so he ends up being the least interesting part of the movie, especially when zhang ziyi becomes more prominent in the latter half. could defo be a contributing factor that i've been learning mandarin (as far as i can tell the characters almost exclusively speak their native languages regardless…

  i feel like people tend to try and apologize for or intellectually work around the thornier aspects of this film (specifically meghna's changing reactions to amar's sex pestering) by robbing meghna of any autonomy in their "relationship" and, in doing so, they dont leave any room for some of the more interesting ideas ratnam is offering us here. meghna wants to believe the great indian lie just as much as amar does, it is simply that amar does so out…
