The initial disappointment I felt when I found that most of the titular 'Day Dreams' in this late Keaton short are lost footage wore off when he abandoned the film's main structural conceit around the halfway point, allowing the gags some breathing room and hitting a more exciting pace. The chaotic second half of the film salvages a first half lacking in much of Keaton's usual flair for intricately choreographed and daringly performed action sequences.
