  My takeaway was that this movie was clearly written by a man. I really enjoyed the directing, and I was so excited to watch it as a fan of the rest of Sean Baker’s movies but idk, something about this one really rubbed me the wrong way. So many of the conflicts were between women being “catty” towards each other, and some lowkey disturbing elements were played off for comedic effect. 

  Some gorgeous shots and amazing acting (and dancing!) from Mikey Madison, really looking forward to seeing her in more, but overall really let down by this one, especially in a very anticlimactic third act.
