"And for the first time, he wished he were far away. Lost in a deep, vast country where nobody knew him. Somewhere without language, or streets. And he dreamed about this place without knowing its name."

I've always been fascinated with people in fiction who go beyond simply being flawed and having made mistakes. They're people with deep-seated impulses, they're violent, narcissistic, abusive and aggressive. They have difficulties changing, they have difficulties supressing their worst…

Chihiro crying while eating when the weight of everything that has happened to her up until that point starts crashing down on her all at once genuinely makes me burst into tears. Still everything I ever needed this movie to be.

What affects me the most about this are not just the scenes with Totoro, especially the tree growing scene, but just how much trust the adults put in the children, even when they are just being children. Miyazaki clearly loves people, however cynical he may seem.

It has its moments but it's a miss for me regardless. Strange pacing, feels sort of messy, most actors are underutilised and it doesn't really leave an impact. Watching the climax with dbox was cool though. And Steven Yeun was great.

I don't think it's particularly smart to hire book worms for the libraries if they end up eating the fucking books, no?

These are much more enjoyable than i'm expecting. It's a great time watching Tinker Bell with my girlfriend lol.
