Sing Sing 2023
Somehow the most life-affirming and devastating movie I've seen in a minute. So much beauty, charm, and tragedy wrapped up in every scene. Colman Domingo is incredible, but the entire cast is remarkable. The justice system is so evil. I'm retroactively annoyed this wasn't a bigger part of the awards season

Impeccable production design and vibes from Eggers as ever. He's mostly doing the thing he does (with an added dose of psychosexuality), but his style is so singular that i didn't really mind. The use of shadow is incredible throughout and there are a bunch of shots that feel like modern renditions of silent film era filmmaking. Gorgeously dismal stuff.

A little more shallow than my favorite Sean Baker movies, but I was still highly entertained. Mikey Madison deserves all the praise she's getting for her performance and the goons are hilarious. I hope Igor is open to therapy. The emotional swerve in the final scene doesnt track with the rest of the movie, but it still hits pretty hard
