A visceral dream about loss, love, queerness, and faith. It captivates with honest acting and a hypnotizing plot. I’m left struck by the poignance of grief.
Inevitably unsettling in its premise, yet thoughtfully executed with stellar performances, cinematography, and creative direction.

Some solid critique, even if it got preachy instead of letting me think – a tightrope that only a few, like The Matrix, can walk. Emma's performance captured those striving to make the world better, and I'm glad she wasn't made out to be a snowflake. I was hoping for movement into the third wave, especially given the socialist language, but the ending's role switch felt conservative to me. Future now, please, with takes that go beyond an inverted power dynamic.
A gorgeous exploration of Miyazaki's childhood, designed for those familiar with his story. If the power of cinema is its ability to connect universal audiences, this obscure narrative falls short.
