I went in ready to be unimpressed by this film. I've seen and been turned off by my share of prior Sean Baker concoctions. So it's with the taste of shoe leather on my tongue that I admit, this one got me. Multiple hats coming off for Mikey Madison, Yurly Borisov and Mark Eydelshteyn. Also thank you Sean Baker for finally writing one for people like me.

All brain-on-drugs jokes aside, as mundane and low-key crappy as the war propaganda always is and always shall be, somehow Kurosawa still manages to display filmmaking genius. You just have to know where to look.
