There are too many iterations of Dracula at this point. While this version is undeniably well made— with Nicholas Hoult delivering a standout performance and the cinematography truly stunning— it struggles to offer anything fresh.
The ever-looming shadow of Nosferatu adds a palpable sense of anxiety, but the film ultimately sticks to the same story beats that have been done better in other adaptations (Coppola’s 1992 version). Again this feels overly familiar, leaving little room for surprises or originality.
