It's hard to say how I feel this movie. In some ways, it was better than "Mimi's First Time" but it falls flat if you compare it to something like "Heathers", "Mean Girls", or "Cruel Intentions". But Rachel Evan Wood is shockingly bad (her character, not her acting), she got more and more repulsive as the plot unfolded, and I didn't know if I was supposed to feel sorry for her at the end while she cried while she flipped…

Me (born in 1990 who doesn't remember it at all): Remember when Bridget Fonda was acting? Good times.

Anyway, I've seen this compared to Reality Bites - one of my absolute favorite, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ movies of all time. I'm not here to say if this movie is better or worse than that one. But I am here to say, a good time was had by all watching this movie. All being just me. I liked it more upon rewatch than I did the first time.

(my favorite couple in this story was Steve and Linda, if anyone was interested).

I put this on on a whim because I've been considering rereading the book for my yearly "reread my favorite childhood/teenage books".

I spent most of the movie being distracted by wondering if her hair was really her hair or if she was wearing a wig the whole time. The second thought I had throughout the second half of the film was the Springs/Sands should have been the one who slowly got custody. She was 16, not 6... she knew…

When you watch a movie for Winona Ryder and the entirety of it is Simon Baker (who admittedly I love in The Mentalist), kinda having sex but it's mostly all just off-camera. I feel like this movie could have been so much more if the story focused on her. Biased? Probably. But I don't care.

    The ending was nice though.
