Watched with a friend who said it was one of their favourite films.

Said friend said: "Oh my God this is so shit" half way through. Sums up my thoughts exactly.

If I didn't like coming-of-age films and if I saw this solo without chatting shit/cracking jokes it's definitely be lower rated.

Sometimes you watch a blockbuster and it just has zero fat on the script -- this is one of those times.

A fantastic film when it was released, and it still holds up. One of those blockbusters that deserves it's reputation.

Will say I was quite stoned watching it so zoned in and out. No idea how that affected my impression of it this viewing.

If you have any interest in American culture in the 20th century, or American music in the same period, then you owe it to yourself to watch this film.

I've never watched a Bakshi film before, but if they're all as gorgeously animated and presented, I look forward to discovering his ouvre.

I usually dislike rotoscoped animation and think it's boring/lazy, but with psychedelic and energetic visuals, Bakshi keeps things fresh on-screen, while the music keeps your ears entertained.

I get what it was going for, but it wasn't executed fantastically.

Fell a bit flat, the didactic seemed a bit ham-fisted, and the overall film felt like an extended Black Mirror episode.

I've seen a lot of these films lately that should've been an hour-long TV episode -- is this the effect of Black Mirror on TV?

Was fun to watch with friends. Would feel very disappointed if I paid to watch this in the cinema.
