A very entertaining detective movie coupled with a glimpse into a very odd way of life. It's quite lovely to look at, and the cast is incredibly stacked. The denouement is a bit far-fetched but also somehow hopeful.

Cult Movie Challenge 2025, Week 9 - Keith David
Not the most iconic Keith David role of all time - he's pretty underused as a police captain who shows up to yell at people - but certainly not the worst disaster film I've ever seen. Cult Movie Challenge 2025, Week 2: Reb Brown
My theory is that the filmmakers saw The Hunger, and they thought "this is a very sexy vampire movie, and the cross-cutting is very stylish, we should do this for werewolves". Then instead of doing shitloads of coke they did shitloads of PCP, and then they made Howling II.
It's truly awful, with the exception of poor Christopher Lee. At least Reb Brown wasn't given any opportunity to do his weird noises from Robowar. Then again, Robowar ruled.

Cult Movie Challenge 2025, Week 1 - Anime
It's quite lovely, with some stunning animation and a beautiful soundtrack. I watched a dubbed version, which probably diminished my enjoyment a bit. I can see the influence it had on later stuff like The Matrix (the English dubbed voice of The Puppet Master sounds a hell of a lot, in tone and content, like The Architect) and it's clearly a spin on Blade Runner. As a non-fan of most anime, this did actually work for me.
