Titane 2021
Clench your teeth and power through the first 30 and you will receive great rewards. This intensely subversive chapter opens up into, at times, a pretty beautiful and moving story that is just really interesting and unique. Really liked this one, it’s all about our *~*humanity*~* or something like that :)

Silent Hill 2006
I wrote a whole review trying to defend this movie but…it’s just bad. The Silent Hill world and aesthetic do all the hard work here and seemingly no one else tried beyond that. This movie barely makes sense and that’s a generous take. Overall we get a few glorious moments of great practical (I’m looking at you “Colin” and scary hot nurse squad) and little else. Gotta say tho, it *is* such a cool set up and I’m rooting for it to be good the whole time! Honorable mention for Boromir and Andrea.

Sunshine 2007
Underrated gem! Really don’t know why this movie didn’t succeed at the time. Great design and story, takes just enough cues from its predecessors while still having something new to say (undoubtedly this movie is very heavily indebted to Alien, 2001, and Event Horizon). Chris Evans is ultimately the most engaging character despite Cillian being the lead, but overall I felt pretty invested in the characters. Final act *is* maybe a bit rushed but it works. All in all cool story and set up that’s well executed with just the right amount of space spookiness.
