Oh just endearing and lovely. Maggie Cheung in her McDonald’s uniform (and all her outfits)! Her swindling nature and independent entrepreneurial spirit! And Jun, so naive but always looking at the world and his circumstances in a positive lens. It’s immature at times — the characters and their love story and their behavior — but it’s a cute movie for sure. I love this era of late 80s and 90s on film, and love it more for its traversing of…

Perfect Days 2023
A slow burn for lovers of details, listening, observing, appreciating, quiet, and analog life. I think in this case, being dutiful to a daily routine and an uncluttered life is born from a complex and painful place. But he makes the most of what’s in front of him. I like the simple things he cherishes very much. Everything gets attention and care. And his cluelessness and/but generosity toward life outside his curated bubble is endearing. A nice reminder that joy in life can be so simple.
