  Humanoids from the Deep 1980

  A fun, gory rubber monster movie with extra large dollops of SLEAZE. I was pretty surprised at first to read this was directed by a woman, but it made a lot more sense when I discovered that Roger Corman called in another director after the fact to film more nudity and gore because he thought it wasn't sleazy enough.

  This movie was bonkers. Within the first ten minutes, you get:

  -A rocket-propelled car race
  -Execution by helicopter rotor
  -Machine gunned yuppies
  -An embarrassingly drunk Oliver Reed sweating booze out of his pores
  -Laughable Reagan-era macho politics

  And the movie never really lets up from there! Seriously, this flick should be in the Deadly Prey / McBain / Samurai Cop / Never Too Young to Die pantheon of so-bad-they're-amazing action flicks. Oliver Reed drunkenly stumbles through the entire movie! You know it's a bad sign when he's making Cameron Mitchell look good. Cannon Films on 1/10 of the budget.
